Lee Colby
December 13, 1938 October 26, 2021 Lee Harold Colby, 82, of Sunnyvale, California from Seattle Washington passed away 10/26/2021 of natural causes. Born to Harold and Lillian- Merle Garvin as Harold Lealand Garvan, but grew up as Lee H. Colby with his adopted foster parents, Benjamin and Cleo Colby.
Dad was a resident of Sunnyvale since 1962. Preceded by his wife of 48 years, Terry and brother Ben Colby, survived by his sisters, Cora Hatt, of Enumclaw WA, Cheri Rush of Yelm WA, Wilbur and Maxine of Quasne of AZ, brothers: Ken (Betty) of Tolland CT, Chester of Seattle, WA, and Art, Gregg, Todd of WA, many loved nieces and nephews.
Survived by son, Douglas, and daughter in law, Leslie, and grandchildren Siera and Jordan all of Sacramento CA. Dad moved to California after 6 years in the USAF and after a 2 week engagement, married Terry. Between them, they had 60+ years at Hewlett Packard. Graduated from Edmonds High School in WA and earned his BSEE from San Jose State, past president of I-EEE (Santa Clara Division), past president of San Jose Fly Casters, Cub Scoutmaster Pack 136 (1972). We are proud of Dad’s Congressional testimony expanding emigration rights for H1B visa holders and his volunteer work to bring science into Jr and Sr high schools. Dad and Mom were parishioners of St. Lawrence the Martyr of Santa Clara. Dad was passionate about flyfishing, camping and backpacking the Sierras. In his retirement years, he and Terry traveled to nearly for every continent.
Memorial mass on 1/8/2022 at St. Lawrence the Martyr in Santa Clara at 10AM followed by internment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
